Elven Alcohol (Daenir / Open) Empty Elven Alcohol (Daenir / Open)

Post  Delta Sat Jan 28, 2012 4:24 am

Daenir hovered over the refrigerator with his eyes just a little crossed against the cool breeze that flowed out from the machine. The cooling device was hardly a novelty to him, but the elf couldn't deny that, even now, he was somewhat impressed by the technology. He blinked a couple of times as his eyes got used to the light. "Where are you...." he asked with a little growl in his low voice as he searched through the cans of soda to find the first beer bottle he could grab, not really caring too much what was actually in it, as long as it was alcohol. Being an elf, he had a fairly strong tolerance, perhaps as indicated by the last batch of 4 empty bottles that were already sitting on the island of the kitchen behind him that he'd brought in from outside, where the dark elf had been contemplating universal questions... like if these humans actually had a stronger brew, or if perhaps he should try to find a dwarf who actually KNEW how to make a good ale. It was about 11 PM and he'd been forced to go through a particularly grueling training session with the mystic earlier that afternoon and for the past few hours, he'd been drinking it off while the fucking trainer went off to play with his cars or some shit with the Order Demon. He had a light tingling flowing through him, almost a buzz, but not quite there yet. He was shirtless, having ditched the garment pretty much immediately after getting back to his dorm from the training session, not particularly wanting the encumbering cloth.

He popped open the latest bottle and chugged down about half of it in one gulp, taking a glance into the fridge debating whether he should take another one or not before reaching in and just grabbing it, figuring what the hell. The house was still active, though as some of the team members started to settle for the night, Daenir couldn't help but enjoy the more relaxed time of evening. So far, he felt like he was fitting in rather well, considering he had never thought of himself exactly as a person who would really 'fit in' anywhere. He'd shared some drinks with Gabe and Milo on occasion; they seemed to be the easiest to get along with if only because they really didn't give a fuck and just wanted to enjoy themselves. The others all had their own little quirks, and he figured he'd probably get used to them after a while. With the exception of the fucking Mystic. It really didn't matter what side they fought for; Mystics were arrogant dicks who really cared nothing for anyone but themselves. Hell, even the war going on in his home lands, half of it was Mystic versus fucking Mystic, all of them fighting for their ego or something, never able to be content with what they had. He leaned against the counter thinking about it for a second before he let out a little laugh as he shook his head and looked down. "To the fucking Mystic war... May they all fucking kill each other," he muttered to himself before slamming back the rest of his current bottle and moving it towards the rest of the empties that he... probably would eventually throw away.

After slamming the bottle down on the counter, the sound of the thud echoed through the empty kitchen of the intern home. Most of the interns were already in their dorms so the fact the elf was alone hollowed out the sound. It was about a second after the thud the temperature of the room started to drastically lower. To those who werent familiar to the intern home they would mistake the air condition going off or the fridge was still open, but from what the elf could see everything was exactly the same as before. The dim ambience of the room started to flicker on and off and the electronic devices that read the time instantly started to react. Cupboards than began to creep open and slam shut and the dishes that were left out on the counter started to rumble from what would be mistaken as an earthquake. The only problem with that was the fact the ground was still stable.

"Most people Generally wish for good fortune when they toast." A voice called out from behind the elf. A small girl sat behind the counters, her expression patient yet curious at the same time. She had long white hair and her black night gown flowed elegantly behind her. " Your the new recruit arent you? I was once new..." Lola muttered out with a soft smile. When the elf blinked she vanished from her spot and reappeared directly behind the man with her head tilted. Most people would be startled but the female was more than ready if they accidentally reacted; she was afterall a ghost. "my name is Lola."

When the chill came through, opening the windows and cabinets in the kitchen, Daenir looked around himself and gave a small little smile. He was used to the spirits of the woods where he had grown up and, while spirits in Gaia seemed to be a little more... attention seeking, it was still a similar feeling for the rogue. When the other intern spoke to him he turned around and gave her a little chuckle. "Believe me, I was," he replied in a dry, yet lyrical voice.

"You like to move around a lot," the elf commented, setting down the beer bottle in his hand and looking up at the girl. He turned back towards her and leaned against the counter. "Daenir," he introduced, bowing his head slightly. The way he held himself was relaxed and a little rough around the edges, while at the same time showing a proud and elegant history of himself and his people. At the moment, the alcohol was working its way through him, making him a little rougher around the edges than normal. "What brings you out here so late?" he asked, crossing his bare arms and leaning back against the counter.

" My movement reminds me that I'm still alive.. Or; me wishing to think I am." Lola replied and phased into thin air, she then reappeared sitting on the counter across from the elf with her legs crossed elegantly in front of her. " They say I suffer from Insomnia.. I do need rest.. but often times I sleep walk. Eugenes afraid of that; but most times its something I'm unable to control." The girl tilted her head to the side and allowed her eyes to watch the elf carefully. " What brings you here so late?" The ghost asked and phased back to an invisible state, the curtains began to flutter from movement and one by the one the lights would flicker above the kitchen as if a force was moving.

"Being alive is a state of mind, not of form," the elf replied, raising up yet another beer. "I've seen men and mystics up walking and talking like you and I are, but they're dead inside... a hollow shell of what they once were and might have been." He took a swig of his beer and set it down, licking his lips and furrowed his brow deeply. "I guess you could say I'm trying to feel something," Daenir added cryptically. While alcohol was not particularly good at getting him drunk, it was useful in helping him to think, which, by human standards, might have seemed odd, but to the elf, the numbing sensation wasn't the feeling of losing oneself, but finding. He could feel and connect with parts of himself that he rarely thought of. And while alcohol wasn't necessarily the best at allowing him his full potential, it was, in Gaia realm, the easiest to come by and it incapacitated him the least. "Once upon a time, I fought for my people to live as they have for thousands of years. Now... I'm only really living for myself," he explained, leaning forward on the counter in a relaxed... almost human... pose. "I do have this place here, it's given me a home, and a little purpose, but... it'll never be the same." Not to mention taking orders from one of the race that literally wiped out his civilization didn't exactly help matters either, but since the moment that he had first made eye contact with the Mystic, he had decided that his personal war was going to remain within himself. "Did you ever have problems adjusting to the place?" he asked, nodding around at the house, nudging the conversation away from dangerous territory.

"I guess you can say that.." A haunting reponse came back from the corner of the room, a sound of one of the stools started to drag from its original position and within seconds Lolas body phased onto it with a curious expression. " I'm able to adapt to my surroundings.. unfortunetly; my surroundings arent able to adapt to me. Some interns are afraid of me; whats worse is its because of what I am. It's something I cant help, my creator..made me this way." Her eyes lowered towards her pale hands.

" What are you trying to feel Daenir?" The girl asked with another innocent like tone, her eyes looking up to look at the intern elf. " Emotions? Realization of something? Or the literal feeling of being intoxicated? ...how does it feel to eat or drink? On that thought; how does it feel to be ..what does Rueben call it? Drunk? He often tells me the best of way of describing things; but alot of the times he mentions that its something that must be experienced."

"Being able to adapt to your surroundings is the key to survival," Daenir countered back with a grim sort of smile, "While expecting them to adapt to you is the cause of most of the wars I've seen." He mindlessly spun the neck of the beer bottle in his hand against the counter top. "My people have always been good at adapting to the world we live in. We once taught a new, foreign race what we knew about our world." The elf shook his head, feeling a pang in his heart at the memory that was before his own time, but was still a collective memory of his people. "The knowledge we shared... it was never enough for them. They didn't want to just live in the world, they wanted to dominate it." He gave a little sigh and looked up at Lola. "Sorry about that..." he apologized taking another swig of his drink. "Have you tried to talk to the interns who are afraid of you? Help them to see that they shouldn't be?"

The elf pursed his lips a little bit as he looked down at his drink. "Believe me, it would take much more than this to get me anything close to drunk. I haven't been fully intoxicated in..." he let out a little laugh, somewhat embarrassed about his age. Actually, it wasn't really embarrassment, it was more... that most humans thought the number to be astronomically unbelievable. "...In quite a while. The best way to describe it, though... is liberating. Humans mistake it for numbness, but in fact, the alcohol gives you a full feeling of your senses and your body, it helps you become more introspective, if you let it. In a way... it's kind of spiritual." He took in a deep breath, surprised to find that he was enjoying just... talking like this. "What I'm aiming for right now though... is to get to the point where my mind is at it's most relaxed and open. It lets me think and talk without some inhibitions, while still allowing a sense of control. That's what you really lose when you're drunk. You lose control of yourself in the conscious part of your mind," he told the young ghost with a small, but pitying smile. "Are you not able to eat or drink anything?"

"You have been around for a long time havent you" Lola stated rather than asking and slightly tilted her head to the side. " Not that you look old, because you dont. But because of how you talk.. its organized and thought out. Someone like a great author. I'm sure you could write books with what you know. Maybe hundreds of them.." The girl offered and allowed a meak smile to grow.

"and No. I don't drink nor do I eat. But often times I pretend. Especially in social settings where I'm to act like one of them. I do try." Lola sighed and leaned her elbow on the surface of the surface table in front of her. " I imagine strawberrys are very sweet.. and because I've never tasted.. I dont know what sweet really taste like. But when you say the word sweet.. it can mean more than just that single sense. I think of ..roses, ribbons..bells. Things that make me feel happy, I then try and compare it with that. Do I sound mad?"

"My people are ancient and individually, we don't age," Daenir replied with a little chuckle as he listened to the girl speak, returning her smile. "I'm actually not a very good story teller." He looked up at her to see if she believed him or not; not that it mattered, but it was interesting to see considering what she had just said.

He listened as she continued to talk about strawberries and how she came to a conclusion about how they tasted, his smile only growing a little bit. "Everything that exists within us is in our minds. I guarantee you, I can change someone's taste of something just by hinting at something unpl..."

In that moment, Milo walked in, looking especially tired in his Burger King uniform as he dragged himself towards the refrigerator. Fucking double shift! He was gonna kill Gabe the next time he saw him... He gave the two Interns a vague wave and reached in and grabbed a beer, instantly starting to chug it down heavily.

"...Pine Sol..." Daenir said, looking right at Milo.

Milo winced and pulled the beer away from his mouth, smacking his lips and looking at the beer like it was the most disgusting thing in the world. "Dude... here..." he said simply and reached in for a Coke, taking it off to his room before the elf could taint that too!

The elf raised a brow at the ghost girl. "See what I mean? It's all in the mind. So, to answer your question..." he said, reaching out to finish Milo's beer. "No, you don't sound mad."

Lola allowed a small giggle to escape when Milo left the kitchen with a different drink. " Your very funny." She declared out loud before giving the new elf a bright smile. " Welcome to the intern house, I'm glad you decided to join us." With the simple message given the female faded from her seat and the cold temperature that was once around the elf returned to normal.

The sound of the back court yard door came to an open and not very long after Balthazar, the leader of the interns came in from his evening stroll. The late night walks by himself allowed him to relive the days he first came to earth. Everything was so different; by this time he would be returning with his sister for an evening out. The hunts recently weren't fulfilling. Many of the spots he returned to had either memories of friends or loved ones; Auron mostly. Though he thought of others seldomly, he felt bound with the current problem he was having now.

".....oh" Bal halted when he saw a shirtless figure by the counters, his bright blue eyes seemed to be glowing slightly in the dim lights they were in. " ..good evening." He muttered and closed the doors behind him. He stood there for only a brief second before making his way passed the elf. He knew Malyk didnt like him, but that was a personal problem his boyfriend had. At the moment, he knew nothing about the elf.

"Thank you, Lola," he replied, holding up a beer to toast to her as she drifted away. He let out a little sigh, isolated and alone once again. The alcohol really wasn't helping him, but then again, he had never really expected it to. He spun the bottle by the neck he was holding, letting his mind drift away when he felt another chill breeze on his back and he turned around to come face to face with the Intern leader. He knew that the demon was involved with the mystic, not that he cared in the slightest. He didn't like mystics. Period. Demons, on the other hand, he'd had very little time with and therefore, no opinion of one way or another.

The elf raised a beer to Bal, an ironic chuckle escaping his lips. "Good evening," he replied back, leaning back against the counter, stretching out his bare chest somewhat. It felt odd that, even though it was so late, there were so many creatures of the night in the house. Daenir always did his best at night; the darkness giving him an extra shroud that the light of day denied him, so for the first time, he felt like he may have found a few kindred spirits in that sense at least. "Is it usual for so many to be up this late?" he asked the leader, doing nothing more or less than starting a conversation.

Bal was actually in the route of leaving the room, that was until he heard the elf call out to him. The demon came to a halt right before he was about to enter the living quarters to where the stairs were and allowed his bright eyes to pan over. " Not as many as before." The demon replied, this time his gaze actually landing on the sculpted elf. He swallowed and turned so he was actually facing the new member, the leader didnt want to give the impression that he was rude. That and he particulary hated it when people didnt look at him when they conversated; even if it was small. " Beforehand, this house had an alliance with vampires. That and I had two others that were demons..."

The intern leader placed both his hands behind his back properly and pursed his lips slightly to the side. " but times change.. and even immortals have to go on. Being Immortal is something your all too familiar with.. isnt it?" Bal asked, he wasnt sure how old Daenir was but he had a sense of feeling that he was experienced. Enough that he was able to keep Malyk on his toes.

Daenir furrowed his brows slightly as he examined the demon, locking onto his bright blue eyes. When the leader mentioned immortality, he couldn't help but allow an ironic laugh to escape his lips. He looked away for a second, collecting his thoughts, but turned back to face Bal again when he started to speak. "Most days, I think that immortality is the worst curse that can be laid upon someone. Having to continue on, watching everything you care about and love fade away..." He bit his lip and shook his head, his eyes moving back towards the floor.

"Mortals take their lives and their realms for granted so often," he scoffed with a heavy sigh before looking back up at Bal. He was leaning up straight, but there was something in those ancient eyes... almost a weariness that wasn't there when he was talking to Lola, someone who, as much as he was interested in her quirks, knew nothing of what it was like to live for so long, whereas here... here was someone who knew what it was like to watch the world change in front of him. "How do you handle it? Constant changes, I mean?"

Elven Alcohol (Daenir / Open) Empty Re: Elven Alcohol (Daenir / Open)

Post  Foxtrot Sun Feb 26, 2012 6:58 pm

Bal looked as if he was in deep thought from what the elf was saying. " I dont believe that" The demon replied after the comment about mortals taking everything for granted. " some may, but the ones I've known take what they have and live to the fullest. It may be meaningless to us, but to them its their purpose."

Purpose, that was somethin Bal was starting to think about once more. He had a purpose when he was half human and lived in rome. He had a purpose when he was in hell, to challenge the elders and the other competing demons. Bal had a purpose when he first came to earth; to protect the ones he loved and cared for from the prince of darkness. Even after the death from the epic battle; Bal found purpose in limbo.. Adam. Now that he was ressurected the demon was still struggling to find his true purpose here. What was difficult was that the demon couldn't really talk to anyone about his problem.

" ours may change over time.. the only problem is trying to find it. " Bal snorted and allowed his bright eyes to lower to the floor, showing that it was somewhat of a tender topic.

Elven Alcohol (Daenir / Open) Empty Re: Elven Alcohol (Daenir / Open)

Post  Delta Mon Feb 27, 2012 2:38 am

Daenir listened to the demon, chuckling a little and holding up his beer at the mention of purpose. "I think that becomes a problem for all of us," he replied back to the demon. Throughout his years, Daenir had but one, it could be called, purpose... to protect his people. But he failed at that, and now his forest was in ashes because of his own actions. He bit his lip, the memories muddling through the alcohol to find their way to a place of clarity that he had been seeking. He lowered the beer back down to its spot on the counter, looking downward. There was something about the elves, something in their sorrowful ways. He was one who'd seen so much and grown so numb from the fighting, yet here he was again, registered to fight another war, against whom was a mystery.

Death. That was the all consuming fear that drove the elf deep down. Fear not of his own death, but of the power of death. Maybe the mortals Bal knew were the ones to live every day. Yet, each day of their lives was the possible termination of it. It could be sudden and unexpected, or it could be slow and painful. It could by quiet, or it could be gruesome. Each image of death replayed over and over in his memory, each face clearly etched. Even the eyes of his enemies had a soul attached to them, and each of the Mystics he'd killed affected him just as much as each slain Elf did. The difference was the look of, not terror, but shock in the Elves eyes while the Mystics all had an emotion of rage or terror depending upon whether the soldier was a conscript or a volunteer.

Daenir let out a sigh and looked back over towards Bal. "I do envy them... Sometimes... I think about what it would be like to lose my life... It's never something we're taught. We don't even think about it. The only funerals are for the great battles..." He licked his lips and looked away again with a hint of regret in his eyes.

"...is that why your standing there drinking?" Bal asked with his head slightly tilting with curiousity. To those who knew Bal in the past, they would always steriotyped him to be a very curious demon. Asking questions usually lead to realizations and if the demon was geniunely interested in something he was quick to learn. " ..I'm not familiar with your kind so i wont pretend to understand. But isnt your body resiliant to something simple as alcohol?" The demon asked, his brows raising slightly.

" or.. you often have a habbit of drinking..." His blue eyes lowered to his torso for just a second. " shirtless, in the kitchen? " Bal wanted to understand the elves modem; may it be simple conversation or a drawn out purpose. Either or, the intern leader was bound to speak with him since he was afterall a new member.

The elf looked down at the bottles and let out a little laugh. "This? It affects me about as much as orange juice," he replied, shaking his head and looking back towards the demon. "But... eventually... it helps to clear and unfog the mind. Not the fastest or most effective thing, but it is better than nothing." He watched the demon for a few seconds, listening to the questions he was asking in his own curiosity. He'd only ever met one demon before, and she was nothing like this man. He seemed calm, almost calculating, but nowhere near as dangerous.

When Bal mentioned his shirt, he looked down at himself and let out a laugh. "I'm not used to shirts yet. Especially the kind there are here. I figured it was so late no one would mind." He used to wear tunics that he fashioned himself, specifically made for him, for his forest. His garments were his life and his protection. The ones here... just tied him down since they weren't fit and designed properly for the climate and body type he had.

" It wasnt a complaint." Bal replied, meaning that to be a harmless comment but his eyes actually fighting to not look at his torso once more. The demons hands were still behind his back but as the seconds of silence came he nodded and turned to make his way out of the room. Daenir was interesting, he wanted to ask him more questions since he had an interesting perspective of things but he couldnt do it if he was standing their shirtless. " well, good night.." The intern called out, his change of attitude giving a sign that he may be questioning his securities.

Daenir raised a brow at Bal's comment, looking down at himself and when he gazed back up at Bal, his face looked a little darker... and more seductive, taking in the compliment and enjoying the idea of being watched, particularly by the mystic's lover. He wasn't planning on causing any drama, but if the leader wanted to look, well, why not, right? Still, he didn't make an effort to stop the demon, instead letting him keep the image in his head for the time being. Instead, he simply waved. "Night. I guess I'll see you around?" he asked, giving Bal the chance at one last look.

When the elf called out to him, Bal came to a halt once more near the frame of the door way. He kept his bright eyes in front of him since he didnt want to really glance back from the fact that the elfs body looked good. The demon couldnt understand on why his eyes always wondered, though his self control was at its peak since he was taken. The only thing the demon was trying to avoid was temptation. " You will." The demon replied, even though he wasnt looking at him a small smile was growing. "...its nice talking to you" Bal declared and finally stepped away.
